There are a few edge vets still out there. Clowney, Quinn and Ingram. Clowney seems to be more of a mercenary. He'll go to the highest bidder. We probably shouldn't get involved with that if other teams are interested in him. Wouldn't mind bringing back Quinn for one last go. He's 33 but could be used as a situational pass rusher. Just a couple years ago he had 18.5 sacks. I don't see how one year later he dropped so far. I have to think he was battling injuries. He did have arthroscopic surgery for a knee last December. Makes me think it was the cause of his decline last year.

I said early on, offer Clowney a low deal and if he doesn't get a better offer, you get him for what you want to pay. But give the kids some time.....they may amount to something at some point this season.

Wow, the things that are important to you. Ratings. Prime Time. Perception of the league (imaginary).

I pay for NFL Ticket. I could give a rats ass how many prime time games the Rams get. The more Prime Time Games they play, the more I pay per game to watch the Rams. In fact, it's better the less prime time games they play because when they lose in prime time fans get over-angry, maybe because they talk shit and then they have to reap what they sew (and may not be so receptive). We read things like, "great, we get beat in prime time, so everybody in the country saw it." Or, "Awesome, embarress us on national TV!!!" Think of it this way.....less prime time equals less stress on some fans.

For 2023, they have 1 Monday Night Game and a Thursday Night Game. BooHoo!! Not too shabby for a 5-12 team, eh? If they're having a good year (not that you think they will), they'll get flexed into another Prime Time Game.

Now this is just silly time. I get all the Rams games free (local). I also paid for Dish NFL network close to 20 yrs. You must be the only “fan” on the planet that does NOT want to see his team in Primetime. LMFAO

Silly is getting your shorts in a bunch because they only have 2 prime time games. I like to see them in Prime Time but it's not a big deal. Hell it's more taxing for them (or any team), preparation-wise....short weeks after MNF, short weeks leading into TNF. Hey, you use whatever you want to determine whether they're gonna have a good year or not.....how many prime time games they play (they had 0 in 99); where they're rated by the hundreds of sports writers; what the league thinks of them ; how many rookies they have; etc. etc....you know, all that important stuff.

Sure it is. If the NFL was about fairness, most teams would have no more than 3 prime time games. 6 would have to have 4. But when teams have 5 prime time games that's a third of the season they have short weeks. So it's a reward and a curse simultaneously.

At receiver Robinson looks pretty good. Good enough to be a WR3. Johnson is an experienced vet. But those guys are on one year deals. Tutu needs to snaps in order to improve and be a force in the receiving corp.

Do you sacrifice the development the youngsters need in order to be contributors next year and beyond? Or do you throw them in their and let them learn by their mistakes? And possibly take early losses and play themselves out of contention?

All legit points (and questions).

First and foremost, I think their #1 goal is to be extremely competitive. Then it's the future. That's the fine line they have to straddle. The good thing is, as the year unfolds, #2 might become less of a concern as the utes get snaps.

I think it's fair to say, on the defensive side of the ball, by mid season, there will be no rookies or guys who need snaps to develop. Bobby Brown, Murchison, Ernest B, Durant, Kendricks, Young, Turner, Hodges-Tomlinson, Yeast, Lake and maybe Hampton, all should be seasoned vets by then.

On offense, there's the feeling Tutu is going to have an expanded role, Avila is practically NFL ready, Zack Evans is a ?.....will he get snaps and how many? How much will Kyren play? A lot I hope. I'd like a 3-headed monster back there. And TE....a healthy Higbee and possibly Hopkins having the light come on will be huge.

But in the end, how they straddle....hop back and forth across that fine line....will determine how good the season turns out.
