Exactly PA. Odds are they won't repeat and there is still that shitty air from that we went through for decades.

And F Jones and his crappy opinion. Never heard of him and don't care if I ever do again.

I'm biased but looking at the Rams and everything they overcame in 2021, they should be the favorite for next year.

Akers missing 15 games.
Woods missing 8 games.
Only having Miller and OBJ for half the season.
Henderson missing time.
Higbee out for the Superbowl and IMHO, that was a HUGE loss. Not that Woods or Akers weren't but for that one game it was.
All the rookies who went down throughout the year. Harris, Rochelle, Tutu
Ernest Jones going out.
Fuller going down.
DWill missing time.

You're never going to have 100% health but if we have better luck next year; and with Stafford in his 2nd year under McVay; and with some of the younger guys breaking into the mix.....we could be a tough out next year. The only thing that worries me is our schedule is so freaking daunting. The NFC West, AFC West, Buffalo, Dallas, Green Bay and Tampa...that's 14 tough games next year. Maybe better health with negate the tougher schedule.

That schedule is ghastly.

The Rams are good so they should do well. I was referring why few think we will repeat. But just like many thought we wouldn't win the NFCCG or the Superbowl, , anything can happen.

Some are. Cowherd is "all in" :D on Matthew Stafford. He talks about his short memory, his 4th quarter prowess, his comeback ability. And yesterday, he contrasted it against a piece by Peter King, where King quotes Bob McGinn, longtime Packers beat writer....

Bob McGinn wrote:“Rodgers … for years has played a careful, calculating game understanding that number of interceptions plays a disproportionate, nonsensical role in the passer-rating formula. Bad interceptions are, well, bad. Then there are interceptions that are the cost of doing business for unselfish, competitive, stats-immune quarterbacks battling to make plays and lead comebacks until the bitter end. When a quarterback, especially one with a powerful, usually accurate arm like Rodgers, deliberately minimizes chances to deliver a big play for fear of an interception … that’s just hurting his team. In the playoff game, a modest talent like Jimmy Garoppolo was under every bit as much pass-rush pressure as Rodgers but drilled more tight-window completions down the field largely because he wasn’t afraid of a pick and the moment.”

Cowherd said, that's what separates Stafford from Rodgers. Stafford couldn't give a shit about his QB rating. What he wants to do is win the game. Any game. He points out Rodgers ego, his perception and serious concern for his legacy.

Passing yards? That's Brady or Brees. Not catching either of them. TD passes? Not gonna catch Brady. Probably won't catch Brees. Superbowls? He'll never approach Brady, Montana or Aikman. So what's he got left? MVPs and QB rating? He's one behind Peyton Manning in MVPs and just 001.3 behind Mahomes in QB rating. And how do you win MVPs? Huge QB rating seems to do the trick, even if you can't win in the postseason!! He wants to win but not at the cost of his legacy "the best QB to play the game...just look at the QB rating!!" We didn't win? That's not on me. That's on the O line. Or the lack of weapons. Or the defense. Just look at my rating!

Stafford doesn't care. He'll throw 2 picks and still try and fit one or three into tight spots to win the game. (That sounds like the Superbowl) He'll throw 2 first half picks, a pick 6 and still take chances in the 2nd half to win a game (Sounds like the Baltimore game). He'll throw 2 second half picks and keep throwing to score 10 fourth quarter points to win (Sounds like the Minnesota game). See with Stafford, he doesn't care about picks as much as Rodgers. He knows an NFL winning QB has to throw the ball to win and sometimes it gets picked. Some QBs will go into a shell (Rodgers). Others will keep chucking it (Stafford, Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert, etc).

Stafford has 34 fourth quarter comebacks. Rodgers has 18. But that's because Stafford played for the Lions and Rodgers the vaunted Green Bay Packers. Just check, Rodgers only has 4 fourth quarter comeback from 2019-2021 and that's the 13-3 record each year right? Well Stafford had 4 fourth quarter comebacks in 2021 and that's not counting the 3 he had in the postseason!! With a SB winning team!! It's got nothing to do with the team record. It has everything to do with not caring about stats.

Stafford is getting love. Cowherd says, "Matthew Stafford? That's my kind of QB". And with a few more years with the Rams under McVay, he stands to get a lot more love!

After Kurt Warner got grief on social media over his "I trust Kyler Murray more than Matt Stafford" he made a comment on twitter that I found interesting. "Its just for entertainment. Its not personal".

That leads me to believe these guys don't always say what their real opinion is. They say things that will get people talking about it. People will watch their programs more. Post articles on social media that will get views. Agree or disagree. Complain or feel good about what they say.

Dead on. And it's not like they have to say something about one team. They can say anything about either team and they get a reaction from fans. It's win-win for clicks or viewership.

Having said that, Warner picked against the Rams all through the postseason IIRC. That "it's just for entertainment, it's not personal" could be a convenient cover for "screw them, I hope they lose". Warner picked SF and said, "well I've gone against the Rams all postseason and they won, so I'm going to stay with that". Did anybody really buy that?

In production meetings, you'd have to believe the guys might have said, "Kurt you were a SB winning QB with the Rams. You pick them this week." Irvin goes for the Cowboys. Mariucci goes for the 49ers and Green Bay. McGinist goes for Brady or the Patriots. Strange Warner didn't take the Rams once....unless you buy that reverse psychology.

The weird thing. I don’t think MS cares about any stat other than the W. He’s a different animal and ultimate teamer.

Glad he’s fighting for the Rams and hope he does for as long as he’s capable.

Those numbers alone should give him at least 4 more PB & AP...

That being said, that would put him in the same category as Calvin Johnson stat numbers.

I was just thinking, let's say Stafford wins another SB, but doesn't get a PB or only a couple, and no AP (Because we all know for those, it's a fan favorite, players and coaches favorite and for AP is an NFL sport writer voting system. But he ends up with the seventh best in passing yardage and TDs.

Would he deserve to be in the HOF, with two SB, a couple of PB, throwing to a HOFer that broke a receiving record, and to another WR that got a triple crown with the second-best receiving record, the best 4th quarter QB with the most comeback win and game winning drives? I would definitely say yes.

The ProBowl and All Pro voting has always been a popularity contest and the narrative of MS going into this season was his numbers were padded because of who he played for. This season and especially his playoff run and Super Bowl performance completely changed what everybody thinks of MS. That old Lions narrative is dead. He is finally being seen for what he truly is, an elite QB. He puts up similar numbers from this point forward, he will make the PB every year and there is no reason to think he will not. I believe an MVP is in his future and I honestly feel 1 more ring will be on his figure before he finally hangs them up. That will be more than enough to get him to Canton.
