Brown: Raiders belong in Oakland, but NFL can thrive in LAPosted by Zac Jackson on February 2, 2016, 5:59 PM ESTTIm BrownAPHall of Fame wide receiver Tim Brown played seven seasons with the Raiders in Los Angeles, then eight more with the Raiders in Oakland. So Brown’s advice for Rams players headed to Los Angeles to begin play in 2016 should be heeded.“It’s really great to see Los Angeles get back into football,” Brown said. “It’s a great area for football but it can be tough because if you’re 4-6 and somebody has a choice between going to the beach and going to the game, the beach may win out.”Brown stopped by PFT Live at Radio Row in San Francisco on Tuesday. He said he wants to see the uncertainty surrounding the Raiders “settle” and the team strike a deal to remain in Oakland.“I believe the franchise belongs in Oakland,” Brown said. “I just don’t believe the money is there.”As far as the Rams winning in L.A. to keep the attention of fans, Brown said the 2016 Rams will find life much easier than the Raiders found it in 1995.“The hardest part of the move was we didn’t find out until, like, May,” he said. “We had to live in L.A. Everything stayed down there. We practiced there, lived there, trained there, then flew up for the games.“We had 20 road games. We actually played pretty well. We were maybe 8-2 but then Jeff Hostetler got hurt and we didn’t get in the playoffs. Making the move before we actually could move, that was tough.”Brown was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame last year. I hear from StLooser fan who believe the Raiders are more popular too. They are misinformed. (they also think our new stadium sucks so, so much for their opinion) They may have been since the Rams lost a lot of fans with their move to the "Big A" . Then the Raiders won a Superbowl in LA while GF was busy stripping down the Rams team. With that in mind I can see why he might say that, but head to head, with a Rams head start, it wouldn't be the same this time around. Now I wouldn't mind their QB playing on our team in LA. The LA Rams are being re-embraced by this community. Lets face it, the Rams are 2-2 in relocation. When they moved to LA from Cleveland and when they moved back home from St Louis (outstanding moves). Moving from LA to Anaheim lost them a lot of fans and moving to St Louis lost even more. A lot of those fans are back now that they are home where they belong, The fact that they will be playing where they never should have left only makes the connection to the old fans even stronger. The Raider fan base exists only because of the vacuum the Rams left when they moved to Anaheim.
