They have an extra free $110M dollars to work something out and all that beautiful leverage sitting up in Inglewood. They will likely come if SD voters balk, but then the Chargers departure would then be on SD voters, not the team. With the fresh taste of thinking the team is leaving in their mouths, I think that might just get this thing passed.
And I wouldn't be surprised if our owner doesn't do what he can do to help that. It sounds like the Shield want to make this happen too.

As far as the Inglewood agreement, that is likely short on details now, , but a framework was surely arrived at while Spanos still has a SD leg to stand on,,,, other than the threats from the Shield.

Personally I think the condition of Alameda is less important to the Shield than keeping the Raiders out of LA. Let's hope MD see's the benefit of that free $100M himself.

It just makes the most sense for the NFL to have only the Rams in LA for now, and use the 2nd spot as leverage for other teams to get stadiums built. Eventually, they can put an expansion team in LA.

How can the NFL not be happy about the excitement in LA over the Rams return? I bet it has surprised many people. Why would the NFL want to screw around with the dynamic they've got going there? Fisher said they sold out the Coliseum in 3 days. Why not play that up and allow the Rams to build up a huge fan base in LA? That is what doing LA right is all about.

Keep the focus on the return of the Rams in LA, and market that to the hilt. My guess is that Kroenke and Demoff are getting plenty of help from Goodell and Grumman on marketing the Rams. I'm not in LA. I'm in NY, but from here it appears that there is more interest in the Rams being back then I thought there'd be. I mean, just based on reading stuff online.

There are a lot of kids in LA who have been starved for a team to root for, now they've got one, and it's gotta help that these kids can connect with the colorful history of the Rams in LA. And it also helps that a lot of the baby boomers are still around to pump up the excitement level. Add to that, the Rams were really smart to draft Gurley to give kids an electric player to connect with. The Rams are gonna sell a ton of Gurley merchandise in LA.

Everybody loves a comeback. It's almost always better than never having left. I call it the Sinatra effect. Sinatra was a big star, then he was out of the limelight for a while, then he made a comeback and he was bigger than ever. I see the same thing happening with the Rams. I think they are gonna be bigger than ever in LA now. They just gotta put a winner on the field. That will be the biggest challenge for them, and they know it.

Its clearly now in the hands of the voters. NFL is putting up 300 mil, but that's just 1/4 of the juice needed to build a new stadium. Spanos now needs the public to vote "yes " to bonds and tax $$$ to fund the rest. How much will Spanos actually commit to? Good luck squeezing that out of him. Charger fans are not happy at this point, and I highly doubt they approve by vote in June to appropriate public funding for a new stadium. They've turned him down before, but after the dissing Spanos has dished out to Charger fans now way they vote to help him build a stadium. Spanos torched that bridge.

In the end, either Spanos moves to LA or he stays in Qual-Com.

I don't know if they feel spurned and are willing to let the team bolt, or feel a reprieve and will pass it before it's too late. They were selling out so the fans were still there. It's the rest of the citizens I'm concerned with.
Part of it will be the cities campaign and how the y sell it. The city (iirc) has offered more that $500M. The $300M by the Shield leaves them 2 to $400M short. Relocation fee alone is $550M to LA. The unknown is how much the value of the franchise will go up in LA with the Rams already owning it. Will there be enough quality sponsors left? Does it make sense to do that and over saturate the LA market or stay home with your perfectly good fan base.
