I don't think the process affects it but the writers seem to get hung up on it. Stuff like first ballot, other players of the same position, etc. all seem to affect who gets in and when.

That's a different subject though. If there was a clear cut no brainer HOF WR for 1 of the 5 spots, the other 4 could potentially be affected. But the Carmichael pick is thru an entirely different process and has no affect or correlation

I hope you're right. Bruce deserves to be there already IMO but I fear he will suffer a similar fate as Art Monk.

What fate is that? The longest standing ovation in HOF history?

That he had to wait 8 years after he was eligible to get inducted. Retired with the 2nd most receiving yards but then kept getting overlooked/passed over.

Still waiting for Henry Ellard to get in. His 16.93 YAC yards, overall in his career is still the best for all WRs, and he was a slot WR.

It is sad that Henry Ellard has never been a semi-finalist.

Doesn't he also have a pretty good PR average also? For his first few years he was the Rams PR ace. If Ike can't get in I think we're gonna be waiting still longer for the other #80. The veteran committee will eventually come through

Preaching to the choir here my Ram-brother....
Not to mention, at the time of his retirement, he was in top 3 for yards and receptions.
He's still #15 in career receiving yards, remarkably only Isaac Bruce and Reggie Wayne are only players ahead of him not in HOF despite being eligible

Well that's not a bad fate IMO, means he at least gets in, and only would have 2 years to go.
The unfortunate fate is Ellard

Holt and Wayne will get in before Bruce because they put up gaudy numbers when fantasy football became a big thing in the early 2000s. Bruce and Holt in general get discounted because of a general belief that any semi-comptetent WR would have looked good in GSOT.

I also think Bruce gets discounted further because (right or wrong) he isn't viewed as having been able to elevate the crummy pre-99 teams he was on.
