Is Shaq Barrett lining up on Whitworth side or Havenstein? Please tell me Whit's side.

McV's plays take a little time to develop. Similar to MM's plays. Both needed outstanding line-play to succeed. Right now our o-line isn't outstanding.

But heck yeah, lets run another 1/2 dozen WR screens. :roll2:

My Point wasn't about getting the ball out quick,,, it was about how they were playing us,,,, with one LB covering the whole middle,,,, a quick slant, and that's at least 10yds... or a play action to Gurley, but Gurley goes up the middle into the flats and you hit him.. or a TE... the D were playing mostly six linemen on the line with one LB in the middle and cover four...

McVay needs to look at his Grandfathers/the 9ers playbook,,,, they use to do it all the time, gain five to 10yds on passing,,,, With the Skill players we have, it could be done easily, then once the defense creeps in, then you hit them deep....

That's my take on the play calling....

If we would have scored 30 points I think these same criticisms would still exist.

We were 3.5 point favorites going into this game. This isn't a Brown's team of the recent past. They are MUCH improved this year. Hence why the league out them in this coveted Prime Time spot.

Playing in this stadium with a hungry fan base with high expectations this year is a big challenge for opposing teams while their hopes are still high. It is a tough crowd. If it was indoors it would rival a New Orleans pitch in volume.

We came away with a win. We beat the spread by a respectable margin. It is ALWAYS difficult to win on the road in the NFL. No matter the elements.

GO RAMS!!!

no doubt.

of course the 1-2 titans whipped the browns 43-13, in cleveland no less, while the titans offense account for 36 points... so i think it's somewhat understandable that some rams fans might find it a bit unsettling that the browns had 4 shots from the rams 4 to at worst tie the game and at best win the game.

I think we are overreacting on the OL and McVay.

If Goff doesn't throw that stupid pick and instead either runs for the first down or dumps it off to Gurley for the first down, and the Rams move the ball and get at least a FG with almost no time left or runs out the clock, then we get out of there with an impressive win.

The narrative changed because Goff gave the Browns the ball back and they ended up on the 4 yard line with 4 chances to tie it up.

Goff did the ONLY thing he couldn't do.

As a result some people are trying to deflect at least some of the blame onto an OL that had to go into a hostile environment with 2 young starters with only 2 games under their belt and a scrub RG that never started a game.

McVay was trying to protect his inexperienced OL. He had to expect Goff to protect the ball. But Goff didn't.

I have little doubt that McVay was kicking Goff's ass watching game film with him this week. Let's hope it registers.

This is a good example of expectations being out of control. The Rams were three point favorites and won by a touchdown. Not sure why anyone expected domination. They were playing a decent team on the road before a very geeked up crowd on a Sunday night.

But yes - the offense can play better.

ya those WR screens... reminded me a bit too much of Fisherball. I don't think I've ever seen one be successful yet, Rams or otherwise. What is the idea? facing a stacked box with the DB's 10 yds off the line? even so, a DB can close on the WR faster than he can wait on the pass, catch it, secure it, and turn up field. Only if he's got a buddy over there to help block, ya maybe. Otherwise I don't get it.
We still won, so I know McVay is working on something to beat that 6-1 front for sure.

I think you bring up a good point - a TE slant would work great wouldn't it? I think Goff & McVay both miss Higbee pretty bad. I think he was also being counted on to help with blocking, both in run & pass.
I haven't seen much from Everett this year that tells me he's coming along in either the passing game or blocking game. Until Higbee gets back, in fact, I'm starting to see one of our O's big weaknesses.

Yup. And that’s the gist of what I’m saying and what upset me.

What has to happen now is Goff must analyze his error and somehow ensure that he processes the situation correctly going forward.

I expect him to be able to do this.

i think the play was there to be made, it's been a rams bread and butter play for 2+ years now, but goff threw a bad ball, didn't put enough under it imo:
