Had to chime in given the first post and OC references... since I also live in OC and this also my first post! I am in Newport Beach and have been a Rams fan since they decided to move back to LA region. Prior thereto, I was a big NFL fan with no home team given where I grew up... so I am stoked and feel lucky to have such a great franchise to pull for.

Looking forward to a great and fun off-season and season, but color me concerned about Gurley. Henderson highlights look pretty awesome though. Brown is also good but I think Henderson will push him for back up duties.

Even against UCF, he tore it up.

Welcome to RFU Rams'N'Heels.

Not sure what to think about Gurley but I'm going to listen to those who know, the Rams. They say there's nothing to see here so I'll take them at their word. No evidence since last season to the contrary..

The others might not be as fast as TGII, but the running back position looks well manned.

Knock on wood this team stays healthy ... again.

Welcome to the new posters!
@Dick84 nailed it. Henderson is no “backup” he’s the additional weapon McVay was talking about needing.
Gurley’s alleged “knee problem” has nothing to do with it either imo. Keeping Gurley fresh makes sense. Adding another dimension makes sense.
Brown is the “backup”, he’ll get some crumbs unless of injury or garbage time.
We’re stacked. Gotta love it.

All of the above? We will have to wait for camp and provided he survives that, the season.

Welcome to RFU and welcome to @OCRam . What part of the OC do you call home? I'm in Laguna.

I'm in Anaheim, went to a few games when they used to play at the big A. Not a fan of shared baseball/football venues. This season should be good but can't wait until the new stadium opens.

on the gurley take.. my 2 cents..

football is a tough game, and on that note, sometimes players take a toll that is more than the body can stand..

TG may be in that category..

i got knee ligs torn in a motorcycle wreck, and though no surgery was required, i was in a cast from my toes to my gonads for 8 weeks.. after they removed the cast, i wore a brace for what seemed like several months, yet after taking it off, my knee would still buckle if not careful..

it was over a year before things worked like normal, and yet still when i would play basketball, my knee would give under hard stress, and the pain, though short lived, was so excruciating, i would break out in a sweat, and within a few moments would be ok...

it's really hard for me to imagine a pro football player dealing with what i do in a pick-up basketball game..

but, medicine has changed a lot since the early 80's, and hopefully gurley is capable of being productive.. it's really all we can hope for...

im on the gurley needs less touches, and that will help him make a better showing late in the season take.. because to me, last seasons ending was a total wtf, why is he not in?...

any ways.. welcome OC glad to have you aboard

It sounds like your injury was from the 80's but if it were more recent, I would almost suggest that you still have a partially torn ligament based on what you have described above and you should really have it checked out. The knee should NOT be buckling/giving out under normal exercise conditions. That's exactly what was happening to me when I had a partially torn ACL. It would buckle whenever I pivoted in football.

Two torn ACL's later... Safe to say my professional football career is over... :lol2:

Take care of that knee man!

Welcome to RFU EdgeRusher and Ram'N'Heels. Always nice to see new people and new opinions.

I agree with Dick84 and Deiterbrock. The plan for Henderson is not necessarily insurance for Gurley. I think when it comes to just running the ball Malcolm Brown might see the bulk of carries if Gurley goes down.

I think there is a plan for Henderson regardless of Gurley's status. Henderson is a true change of pace back. And they can do things with him in the passing game. Heck, he can be involved in some jet sweeps too.

I think the plan for him is making him versatile doing different things. I also think how well he learns how to pick up the blitz will determine how much playing time he gets. Gurley and Brown are both pretty good with that.
