Crowd noise is OK. but even in these highlights, over all the crowd noise you can hear the whistles screaming during these plays. That's not crowd noise. That's not something a home crowd should be proud of. Might as well point lasers at the QB.....
edit: great post Aeneas1! popped in here to get some in-depth commentary. Great points - Brees the future HOF 1st ballot-er couldn't hold Goff's water in the 2nd Quarter, in a virtually unfair hostile environment. and you've got the stats to prove it.

Rewinding those plays, there were plenty of reasons to be excited about Goff and McVay both. On the Higbee TD he was inside of Everett and Woods. The Saints lost him when he ran into the endzone. Everett stayed back to help block. I think the Saints mighta thought Everett would be running a route but by they time they realized it was Higbee it was too late. Good play design.

On the deep throw to Reynolds he was matched up with the linebacker. Any time a wide receiver has a linebacker on him its a mismatch. Again, the mind of McVay at work.

The rollout to Everett was all Goff. At the time I thought he was going to throw it away. He threw a perfect strike on the run. Impressive stuff there.

Watching Goff operate after the rough start, I was impressed with the poise. You don't see many 24 year olds doing that in that kind of environment against a good team. Watching them play I get a whole different feel than the previous years. Whenever we fall behind I feel like we have a chance because of our QB, coach and surrounding talent. I haven't felt like that since the GSOT days.

aeneas1 wrote:so how does our 24-year-old qb respond, in the championship game, on the road, in deafening noise, after the saints drove the ball 71 yards for a td on their first possession of the 2nd half to make it a 10-20 game?

finishes the game by completing 4 of 6 third down passes for a 1st down, by completing 13 of 18 passes (72.2%) overall for 183 yards, a td, a 123.1 qb rating and a 10.2 yards per attempt average, including completions of 39, 33, 25, 19, 16, 14 and 12 yards, that's all.

and how does all-world brees respond, in the championship game, in the comfort of his own home, with the hometown crowd at his back, after goff led the rams to a third quarter 75-yard td drive to make it a 17-20 game?

finishes the game by completing 1 of 4 third down passes for a 1st down, by completing 7 of 15 passes (47%) overall for 81 yards, a pick, a 35.7 qb rating and a 5.4 yards per attempt average, including just 1 completion of more than 10 yards.

and in an apparent effort to make everyone happy, goff also added to his 4th quarter comeback and game winning drive counts.

some of goff's championship game work (i'm partial to the last pass in the clip, an absolute laser/dime to reynolds on the final drive of regulation):

Yes great great pass to Reynolds. I also like the pass to Everett off script on the run. Great play by both players. Goff for throwing a nice ball andhaving confidence in Everett to comeback to the ball and Everett for going to get the ball and turning upfield. Everett also didnt get greedy he protected the ball first and foremost.
