The Twins drop 3 on the Yanks in the top of the first.
Severino gets yanked after getting 1 out and allowing 5 baserunners.
Green comes in and K's two in a row (actually 4 in a row as he K'd the first two in the top of the 2nd)
The Yanks drop 3 right back on the Twins, then add another in the 2nd when Santana buzzes Gardner's tower on a 2-out, 2-2 pitch and then Gardner hits the next pitch into the upper deck.
Minnesota comes back in 3rd with a run to make it 4-4. And then the Yankees make it 5-4 in the bottom of the third on a two out single by Greg Bird.

The first 1/3 of the game sees NY use 3 pitchers, Minnesota 2. NY score 5 runs and homer twice. Minnesota score 4 runs and homer twice.

In the bottom of the 4th, Judge put the Yankees up with a 2 run laser to left for all the scoring of the middle 3 innings. The middle 3 innings saw the Yankees use their 4th pitcher and the Twins their 3rd. It also saw Gary Sanchez catch a ball on his cahonies that made his pitcher grab his own as he buried his face in his glove. On replay the entire stadium groaned but he stayed in the game.

The Yankees scored another run in the 7th when Minnesota's 5th pitcher walked Aaron Hicks with the bases drunk. But the most bizarre play occurred in the 8th inning. With one out and Tommy Kahnle thowing pees, Zack Granite (perhaps the best name in MLB) hit a hot grounder to Greg Bird between second and first. Bird's throw might have been a shade behind Kahnle covering and he dropped it. Alertly Starlin Castro retrieved the ball which didn't roll far and tug Granite, who had run past first, on his way back to the bag. The ump rung him up. It turns out, Granite stepped right over first base and amazingly enough, Castro AND the ump both saw it. After that 4 of the next 5 Twin hitters struck out with Joe Mauer hitting a single with 2 outs in the ninth and the game was in the books.

The stat line:
Minnesota 4 runs on 9 hits with 2 homers and a double; 0 for 6 with RISP
NYY 8 runs on 9 hits with 3 homers and a double; 2 for 9 with RISP.
Minnesota 8 LOB; NYY 6 LOB

The two starters combined for 2 and 1/3 IP, allowing 7 hits, 7 runs and walking 3 while striking out none (the first time in the postseason neither starter had a K).
The Twins bullpen (including regular starter Jose Berrios) pitched 6 innings, allowing 6 hits, 3 walks and 4 runs while striking out 5. The Yankees bullpen pitched 8 and 2/3 innings, gave up 5 hits, 2 walks and 1 run while striking out 13.

The most bizarre game I can remember.
