He brings a lot of enthusiasm and experience. Hope he can earn a place on the team again.

Hack, I like the guy but am hoping we have the young talent so that we don't need to re-sign him. He was solid, but only average, at best. IMHO, his best years are behind him, due to his lack of speed.

Agreed. I like him as a player. During his prime he was pretty good. He still does bring that experience.
But I have to agree, if we can replace him with a younger stronger player, then so be it. What ever is best for the team. That's the NFL.
And yes speed kills.

I think Barwin's done.

They have a few interesting candidates to replace him, and even moved Fox to edge/LB.

I think it's entirely possible that a youngster could step up and give as much as Barwin did last year.

IE. I mean someone beyond the top 3 (Ebukam, Lonacre, Obo).

Here they all are though right now the official rosters lists some as DEs. It's 8 for 4 spots, or maybe 5 spots.

Probably set (unless someone bumps Longacre):

50 Ebukam, Samson LB 6-3 240 23 R Eastern Washington
45 Okoronkwo, Ogbonnia LB 6-1 240 23 R Oklahoma
96 Longacre, Matt DE 6-3 255 26 3 Northwest Missouri State

Vying for 1-2 spots:

97 Fox, Morgan DE 6-3 275 23 2 Colorado State-Pueblo
62 Womac, Brian DE 6-2 235 23 R Rice
51 Price, Ejuan OLB 6-0 250 25 R Pittsburgh
56 Sickels, Garrett OLB 6-4 252 23 0 Penn State
49 Young, Trevon DE 6-4 258 23 R Louisville

Womac and Young both look interesting.

Isn't Lawler from SMU an edge rusher?

I was thinking of Lawler as a DE.

That's my understanding of what they intend with him.

I would double check but they don't return my calls anymore. Image

Lawler is an effort guy, no speed.
