I've been YouTube binging on Silverback Gorilla videos lately and it got me to wondering why there essentially aren't any sports teams named after this fierce, aggressive, powerful, intimidating creature? Especially football teams. Pittsburgh State seems to be the only one. Not sure why they paired a gorilla with McDonald's colors though. Sort of defeats the purpose IMO.

Not all gorillas or even all silverbacks are fierce looking but the one's that are...sheesh! These guys are the kings of their castles and you don't F with them. Why so many birds and cartoon characters before gorillas?

Forgot to check soccer and the Atlanta Silverbacks also exist. So, 2 teams out of all of NFL, NCAA, CFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, soccer...seems statistically unlikely.

Might? I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.

Any thought that starts with "I've been youtube binging on silverback gorilla videos" deserves ALL of the likes. :mrgreen2:

It will never be a league of silver backs ... it will always be a game of green-backs

Forget mascots. Put some pads on that thing. Intimidating would be an understatement. The first pic looks like he's celebrating a sack. Or ripping out the QB's spleen. :shock2:

You are joking, right?

Since African-Americans have been derisively referred to as that in the past, I thinking not
