Ok i will clarify.... it will fail 100%. It will just last longer if the NFL officially uses it as its minor league.

Mike Singletary will be head coach of Memphis' new AAF team

Published on May. 10, 2018

For Mike Singletary, it’s good to be king once again.

The Alliance of American Football announced Thursday that Singletary will become head coach of its Memphis franchise as the eight-team spring pro football league prepares to launch in February 2019.

Singletary, 59, has pined for a return to the pro coaching ranks since his last NFL stint as a Rams defensive assistant in 2016. The Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker last served as a head coach for the 49ers from 2008-10. He posted an 18-22 record as San Francisco's head coach.

Singletary still is expected to work this fall as a Texas high school football coach, a position he accepted earlier this year before his Alliance deal was completed.

Singletary now joins Steve Spurrier (Orlando) and Brad Childress (Atlanta) as other official Alliance head coaching hires. A source told Sporting News that Mike Martz (Southern California), Rick Neuheisel (Phoenix) and Jim Mora (Salt Lake City) are three other expected additions that will be announced in the coming weeks.

A league spokesman told Sporting News that “those names/cities aren’t confirmed so at this point would just be speculation."

The Memphis squad will play its games at the Liberty Bowl. Kosha Irby, a former WWE marketing executive, was named team president.

San Diego to get sixth AAF franchise

Football is returning to San Diego.

Via the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Alliance of American Football confirmed on Tuesday that San Diego will be the sixth city that will be getting a team in the league that will launch with eight franchises.

Mike Martz, a San Diego native, will coach the San Diego team. He served as offensive coordinator the Super Bowl XXXIV champion Rams in 1999, and as head coach Martz took the Rams to Super Bowl XXXVI. (Maybe Kurt Warner can come out of retirement to play for Martz, or at least openly muse about the possibility before claiming it’s a #slownewsday when people react.)

The Chargers played in San Diego from 1961 through 2016, moving to L.A. last year. The AAF is due to begin playing the Sunday after Super Bowl LIII.

Same here. Martz coaching should be interesting to watch. Looking forward to the XFL also. Funny how this spring league got the jump on the XFL by starting a year early. I have a feeling the XFL will try something different to stand out from the the other league. Maybe topless cheerleaders lol. That would get ratings!

Maybe this is why Peterson wants to move to St. Louis?

I'm thinking Peterson wants to go to St Louis because they are building an awesome new Open Air Stadium on the river
