Maybe it's the uncertain future, 2015 the potential last season in San Diego. Maybe it's the recent success, one win last year from consecutive playoff berths. Maybe it's the work of those in business operations.

Whatever it is, the Chargers have sold more season tickets this year than in recent memory.

A team official said Monday afternoon that the Chargers have sold 56,112 season tickets for the upcoming year. It is the most at this stage since 2008 when they reached the 60,500 mark. The team notably was coming off an AFC Championship Game appearance at the time.

All offseason, the Chargers have been encouraged with box-office interest.

They saw a high percentage of season-ticket renewals and healthy number of new buyers. In June, before single-game tickets hit the market, they reported season-ticket sales were up nearly 13 percent from the same point in 2014.

Single-game ticket sales then led the team to announce in July that only scattered individual tickets were available for home games against the Steelers, Bears and Broncos. The season opener, this Sunday against the Lions, was said to be not far behind.

The Chargers have coined the game "White Hot Sunday" with players in all-white uniforms.

Likewise, fans are encouraged to wear white to Qualcomm Stadium.

So the NFL is going to abandon this city but not one that had quarter filled preseason games?

So Charger fans, faced with possibly losing their team turn out with record ticket sales. St Louis people make excuses why they shouldn't go to games and have record low turnouts for preseason games and ticket sales are low to start.

How do StL's season ticket sales compare. SD # vs StL #

And good for San Diego Chargers fans.. Way to rep !
We'll see what the StL homies bring in 6 days.

I've read posters claim that the spike is because LA fans are trying to get first crack at LA season tickets as existing season ticket holders get priority.
But the Chargers season ticket bylaws don't state anything about it. lol

Wow that's good for SD also I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that the Raiders are also selling record high season tickets.

Not sure if it was Goodell or Grubman, but the "NFL" has said that attendance is not a factor in the relocation issue. Do you believe that? Me either.
