Elvis wrote:Draft pick Ethan Evans is the punter.

Last year Cameron Dicker competed for the punter job. Too bad he didn't win because he could've been our kicker when Gay left. Dicker does both and is currently the Chargers kicker...

Not only is Ethan Evans the punter, he also handles kickoffs. Maher had ONE job and is just not consistent enough to be relied upon.

If it’s not a chip shot, don’t bother. Either go for it and save the 7 yards from the kick spot if you don’t make it and lean in the D. Or just punt and pin them deep. If the dude ain’t accurate, what’s been gained

YES! The real killer on missed long field goal attempts is where the opposition gets the ball to start their drive.

From Wikipedia:
In week nine of the 2017 season, Havrisik converted on a 57-yard field goal which tied the school record, and had nine touchbacks on ten kickoffs. For his performance on the week he was named the Pac-12 special teams player of the week.

In Havrisik's first season at Arizona in 2017, he went three for four on field goals and two for two on extra points.

In the 2018 season, Havrisik finished the year going 22 for 24 on extra point attempts, and six for eleven on field goal attempts, while finishing the year with 81.1% touchback rate, which would rank him ninth in the FBS on the year.

In week seven of the 2019 season, Havrisik went two for two on field goals, including booting a 50 yard field goal, and also having five touchbacks on five kickoffs. For his performance on the game he was named the Pac-12 special teams player of the week.
Havrisik finished the 2019 season going 37 for 39 on extra points and 10 for 17 on field goal attempts.

In the shortend 2020 season, Havrisik finished the year going nine for ten on extra point and six for seven on field goal attempts.

In the 2021 season, Havrisik would convert on all three of his extra points, and go nine for fourteen on his field goals.

Havrisik finished his career at Arizona going 73 for 78 on his extra points, and 34 for 53 on his field goal attempts for a 64.2% field goal precentage.

That sounds good. I hope he works out. Dustin Hopkins is 7 of 7 from 50 and beyond, 7 of 9 from 40-49. Why would Cleveland stash a PK on the practice squad? Or possibly.....the kid is such a good PK, they held a roster spot (PS) for him despite having a solid PK.

Here's his NFL stats:
:shock2:

Hopkins murdered my FFT last week, the dude is nails from all over the field. I hope you are right. I dont get why we didnt have some up and comer on our own practice squad.

Also agree with the point about maybe not attempting a FG from deep, especially with teams that arent moving the ball. IMO the biggest decider of the Steelers game was giving them the ball in great field position after missed FG's, they scored on both possessions.

Found this about PS to 53 rules:

If a practice squad player is signed to the active roster, he will receive a minimum of three weekly paychecks, even if he is released before spending three weeks with the new team.

So i don't think you have to keep or count him on your 53 for any particular length of time but you do have to pay him?
